Joiner takes over HTFSDS points lead; Wins Bristol 1000
Competing in a pair of the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series events to kick off his Labor Day weekend, Joseph Joiner entered his Three Trade Consultants No. 10 Late Model into battle at Lavonia Speedway (Lavonia, Ga.) on Friday evening for the $10,000-to-win opener.
Starting the feature in fifth via a runner-up finish in his heat race, Joiner rolled to a consistent fifth-place finish in the 50-lapper, which came behind Ashton Winger, Cla Knight, David McCoy, and Zack Mitchell.
With a $15,000 top prize on line in Saturday’s 49th annual Rome Boss at Rome Speedway (Rome, Ga.), Joseph charged from the sixth-starting spot in the A-Main and picked up four positions to finish second. He trailed Dale McDowell across the line with Tyler Millwood rounding out the podium.
Coming off a pair of top-five finishes, Joiner now holds a four-point lead over Josh Putnam atop the latest Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series standings.
On Sunday, Joseph ventured to Bristol Motor Speedway (Bristol, Tenn.) to pilot a Crown Vic entry for the Cleetus McFarland-promoted Bristol 1000. Lined up on the front row for the 80-lap main event via his second-fastest qualifying effort, Joiner powered ahead of Tye Braun following a late-race restart and repelled a charging John Parker Mitchell to capture the victory and a new Pennzoil-themed Chevrolet Camaro. The win marked his eighth of the season.
