Hunt The Front Super Dirt Series

Joseph Joiner brings 2024 Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series class to a dozen

There was little doubt Joseph Joiner would be back to run a second season with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series, the fledgling Milton, Fla.-based tour owned and operated by the Joiner family’s Hunt the Front brand. As the tour continues to get its footing heading into its sophomore season, Joiner looks to do the same after finishing just 10 points behind first-year series champion Josh Putnam of Florence, Ala.

Joiner had a productive 2023 campaign, grabbing 11 victories across four divisions, including five Super Late Model wins and two Crate Late Model wins. Showcasing his diversity, Joiner also grabbed an open wheel modified victory and two wins in the increasingly popular Crown Vic division. A $10,000 payday in Southern All Stars action at his home track, Southern Raceway in Milton, highlighted Joiner’s five Super Late Model wins, which came with four different series in four different states.

Joiner’s first triumph with his family-ran series came in the tour’s 11th event, a $5,000-to-win race at Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, Ga., in August. By season’s end he had 15 top-10 finishes, eight top-fives and one win with an average finish of 7.4 in the 18 Hunt the Front Series points races. If not for stumbling over the last four events of the series’ season, when he had an average finish of 15.3 in doubleheaders at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Ala., and Swainsboro (Ga.) Raceway, Joiner may have kept the series championship trophy in Milton.

With four Hunt the Front events at Talladega and two at Swainsboro this season, Joiner will try to make improvements at those two tracks as he chases the tour’s $50,000 series championship. The experience Joiner gains the first time around will certainly help. Securing the series title would leave him $1 short of his richest payday. Joiner, who turns 30 this year, already has a career-high $50,001 victory, which came in the Super Bee 100 at Super Bee Speedway in Chatham, La., in 2021.
